Valerie A. Behm Licensed Funeral Director Graduate of the following: 1960 The Andrews School for Girls, Willoughby (Class of '61) 1964 B.S. in Foods and Nutrition, Iowa State University, Ames 1964-1965 Completed Dietetic Internship, Barnes Hospital, St. Louis 1980 M. A. in Adult Education, The Ohio State University 1994 Completed 2 year funeral director's apprenticeship at The Behm Family Funeral Homes and became a Licensed Funeral Director. In 1992 Valerie retired as Assistant Director in charge of Clinical Dietetics, The Ohio State University Medical Center and is Clinical Instructor Emeritus, Medical Dietetic Division, School of Allied Medical Professions, and The Ohio State University. During her career she was active in the Ohio Dietetic Association (former president) and delegate and member of committees of the American Dietetic Association as well as co-author of several articles of Journal of the American Dietetic Association. Since retired from dietetics, Valerie has enjoyed becoming re-acquainted with her family and friends in the area and meeting new ones. She continues to enjoy traveling, gardening (have you noticed the funeral home flowers?), attending O.S.U. football games and her mini poodle Woody Hayes. She also enjoyed 6 years, 4 as program chairman, on the board of the Madison Perry Area Chambers of Commerce. Valerie is responsible for coordinating the funeral homes' Bereavement Support Program, the Annual Special Community Candlelight Service of Remembrance (since 2000) and other programs. She is usually seen at visitation. The Behm Family wants to express its gratitude to the entire community for its unfailing support given our mother Betty Behm after the untimely death at age 40 of our father Wilford N Behm in 1961. Valerie remembers her mother's thank you letter to the community after the services (published in the Madison Press) which began…. "TO THE WONDERFUL PEOPLE OF MADISON…..". The Behm Family continues to thank the wonderful community in our 100th year (1906-2006) of caring.
