Deloris J. Smith, age 83, of Geneva passed away January 2, 2018 at home. She was born January 5, 1934 in Scioto County, OH to Lillie (Barker) and Barth Stapleton. She married Robert L. Smith on July 28, 1962 in New Boston, OH.
She worked for Williams Shoe Factory in Portsmouth, OH for 10 years. Deloris was a member of Heres Hope Baptist Church where she was a hostess and nursery coordinator. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening and taking long walks, but most of all, she loved and adored her family.
Deloris is survived by her husband, Robert; daughter, Sherry (Stapleton) Yankie of Geneva; sons, Michael Smith of Cleveland, Thomas (Donna) Smith of Lusby, MD; grandchildren, James, Joseph, Mathew, Caitlin; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Joey Jr., Mikayla Rose, John Thomas, Olivia Noelle; sisters, Kathleen (Elza) Johnson and Darlene Stapleton both of Franklin Furnace, OH and Betty Carmichael of Lucas, OH. Deloris was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert Stapleton.
Friends will be received 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, OH 44041. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018 at the funeral home. Rev. Robert Higgins of Heres Hope Baptist Church will be officiating. Final resting place is Evergreen Cemetery in Geneva.
