Dr. Joseph Matthew Lebeda, VMD, 93 years of age, originally from Caldwell, NJ and most recently living in Madison OH, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Lake West Hospital in Willoughby OH. Born February 24, 1923 in West Caldwell, NJ. He was the son of the late Anna (Panoch) and Alois Lebeda.
Joseph was a farm boy and the youngest of ten children. He attended Upsala College in NJ and graduated in three years. He then attended University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 1947 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. He was an entrepreneur who started a well-known and successful veterinary business at 700 Bloomfield Ave, West Caldwell, NJ. Joseph was absolutely loved and respected by his human and animal clientele. He remained a farmer at heart all of his life and loved tending large vegetable gardens, caring for his livestock, and his many household pets.
Joseph lived life to the fullest. He was an extraordinary Veterinarian, business owner, friend, husband, and the best father ever.
He is survived by his daughter, Lois (Gerald) Chasko of Madison, OH; son, Kenneth (Bonnie) Lebeda of Muncy, PA; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, all of his brothers and sisters, and his wives, Jean and Yvonne.
A private family service will be observed with burial to take place in Montclair, NJ.
