James G. “Jamie” Echerd II, 49, of Harpersfield Twp., Ohio, passed away at home on Thursday, February 20, 2014. He was born in Geneva, Ohio, on October 22nd and was the son of Maxine (Jones) and James “Jim” Echerd.
Jamie was a kind and caring man with a big heart who was devoted to those he loved. From a young age he was fascinated with anything that had an engine, like his father. He was a lifelong animal lover, especially his crazy cat, Shyla. Although he was a man of few words, he brought laughter to any occasion. While spending time with family, he most enjoyed goofing around with the kids. He was a dedicated, hard-working man who did little for himself, but was always willing to lend a hand.
He is survived by his daughters, Erin and Brianne Echerd of Tremont; sister, Denise Weinmann of Harpersfield; niece Kaylee, nephews Kyle and Evan; step sister Debra Reynolds; step brothers Keith (Christine) Stancliff, Daniel (Becky) Stancliff, Briant (Lisa) Baker, and Kevin (Terry) Baker; and his girlfriend Mayai Jeffries. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim & Maxine Echerd; and step-mother, Barbara (Bowler) Echerd.
Friends will be received from 5-7pm on Monday, February 24, 2014 at THE BEHM FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 175 South Broadway, Geneva, OH 44041. A Memorial Service will follow at 7pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Friends of the Harpersfield Covered Bridge Park, 940 Atkins Road, Geneva, OH 44041. Obituary may be viewed on line at www.behmfuneral.com

I was looking up his number , have not herd from him in awhile, Than i read this article about this selfless man who would help anyone in dire need or help. I saw the words snow plow and dry wall and my heart sank as I just new who it was this guy was talking about. I knew james and he was a stand up guy unlike any other i have known. You see I ran an elite hand to hand combat training program for 7 years, never missed a day, and was one of the finest Operatives I ever trained. He used to say to me I train not to protect myself but to be able to help anyone else in need. He was a friend, and at Nightbreed academy a legend in combative skills. God I will miss him, his nature, his friendship and his word that when he said he would do something you could count it on it. Peace brother , i will find you again.
