Jean Elizabeth Hook, age 89, of Geneva, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, August 9, 2020, at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born January 8, 1931 in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of Edith V. (Shanholtz) and Vernon E. Lonas. She married Pickford “Pick” Hook on August 21, 1949 in Hagerstown, MD.
Jean retired from Spencer School as a cafeteria manager. She was an active Member of Peoples Church in Geneva, serving in many roles including Head Deaconess, VBS helper, member of the choir and quilting group, and the nursing home visitation and ministries. She also volunteered at the Food Pantry. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, antiquing, and reading.
Jean loved the Lord, her family, and had a wonderful servant’s heart. She could always be found lending a hand wherever needed, and taking care of others. Her greatest joy was her family and time spent with them. Family dinners, cookouts, and gatherings (with her famous sweet iced tea), are wonderful memories her loved ones will cherish always. She loved well, and you felt it. If you were blessed to know her, you also know that she prayed for you and your family.
