June (Melcher) Korth, age 83 of Madison, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013 at TriPoint Medical Center. Born June 1, 1929 in Willoughby to Walter and Mina Melcher, she married Russell Korth on April 8, 1950.

Mrs. Korth was a member of Perry United Methodist Church. She sang in the Wesley Choir for almost sixty years and helped with Comfort Meals for many years. She graduated from Madison High School in 1947 and was active in organizing the alumni class gatherings. Mrs. Korth started taking college courses when Lakeland Community College opened in 1967 and then transferred to Lake Erie College for three years with a BS degree in education. Her college time was a family affair of cooperation with four children at home. Mrs. Korth was an elementary teacher at North Madison and Redbird Elementary Schools. After retiring she helped at Perry Center and Craft Club. She was a member of the Madison Historical Society and enjoyed gardening and sewing many quilts. She also was active in Lake County Retired Teachers on the Travel Committee for many years. Not only was June active in sports in school, she was an avid Cleveland sports fan, never missing a game. She relished taking a part in her grandchildren’s activities.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Korth of Dayton, Connie (Ralph) Bruening of Madison, Debbie (Roy) Breniser of Perry; son, Tom (Melissa) Korth of Madison; grandchildren, Carrie, Laura, Julie Bruening and Joshua Korth; great-grandson, Jayden Russell Jeschelnig.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; parents; sisters, Eleanor Barnhouse, Marjorie Palmer and Carol Kelley.

Friends will be received 3-7 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at The Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio. Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 25, 2013, at Perry United Methodist Church, 3875 Main Street, Perry, Ohio.
