Manuel “Skip” Estrella, Jr.
Manuel “Skip” Morrow Estrella, Jr., 70, of Thompson, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, December 16, 2016.
He was born September 27, 1946 in Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of the late Manuel and Elizabeth (Cabral) Estrella. He graduated from Mt. Diablo High School in Concord, California Class of 1964. He then went on to further his education and graduated college with a PHD in Business Administration.
Skip served his country in the Marine Corps, during the Vietnam Era and was honorably discharged in 1968. He married the love of his life Karen Smith in Concord, California on October 2, 1966.
Mr. Estrella over the years touched many lives while he served with various organizations. He was a member of the Elk’s Club of Los Angeles, American Legion Post #112 in Madison, AM Vets in Perry, the VFW Post In Willoughby; the Geneva Rod and Gun Club and was a former member of the VNV- Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Skip is survived by his wife of 50 years, Karen; son, Mitchell Estrella; daughter, Stephanie (Douglas) French; grandchildren, Megan (Nick) Kresila, Phillip (Cassandra) Jensen, Rachele Thomas, and Sharyn Doig; great-grandchildren, Karma Steelman and Ryder Jensen; and brother, Gary (Marcia) Estrella. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sharyn Estrella at the age of 13, and his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 10 AM at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., Madison, Ohio. Burial will be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
