Mary Ellen Spiesman Warren, age 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, January 1, 2016. Born April 15, 1926 she was the daughter of Anna Belle and George Spiesman. She married Wayland S. Warren on March 9, 1947.
Mary attended The Ohio State University and was an avid Buckeyes fan. She went on to graduate from Lake Erie College. Mary taught middle school science at John R. Williams for many years. She enjoyed gardening, taking walks, politics, reading, and crossword puzzles. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her daughter: Kathy (Ken) Smith of Perry; son: Wayland “Buzz” (Maria) Warren of Shelton, CT.; grandchildren: Kimberly (Rob) Martin, Kara Smith, Kevin (Heidi) Smith, Jeff Warren, Jennifer (Ryan) Ostrosky; great-grandchildren: Natalie and Vincent Smith, Savana and Olivia Ostrosky, and Jillian Martin. She is also survived by her sisters: Ruth and Marjorie Spiesman, and brother: Phillip Spiesman. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, parents and eight siblings.
Friends and family will be received from 4-7pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison. A private burial will be observed at a later time.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44110.
