Mary Patricia (Loder) Page, affectionately known as “Patty,” age 84 of Madison, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 21, 1937, the daughter of Aileen (Bullen) and Cornelius Francis Loder. She was married to Frederick “Fritz” Page for 54 years and he proceeded her in death in 2018. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Lynn Page (Peter Schmidt) and Elizabeth (Shane) Mull and her five grandchildren, Ethan, Jude, Julia, Loder, and Mabry.
Patty was an avid Master Gardener and was happiest with fresh soil under her nails and a full wheelbarrow of mushroom compost. Her beautiful floral gardens were admired for decades by neighbors, friends, and family from PA to OH.
Her passionate love of the arts began in high school, as she was habitually cast as the Blessed Virgin Mary in St. Rosalias’ annual performance of the Passion Play. She consistently beat out fellow thespians solely because she could hold her arms out the longest. She was a staunch supporter and loyal patron to the performing arts from Heinz Hall to Severance Hall, but her heart always belonged to Rabbit Run.
Patty’s dry sense of humor, sharp wit and beautiful sense of style will be an ever lasting memory for those that were fortunate to know her. Her love of animals was a shared passion with her beloved late husband “Fritzie” and lasted a lifetime. Throughout her many personal achievements, none were more remarkable then her lasting legacy as a wife, mother, and grandmother.
A Garden Party to celebrate the life of Pretty Patty will be held at Rabbit Run Theatre, 5648 Chapel Rd., from 2-4 PM on Saturday, June 12th.
In lieu of flowers please send a contribution in Patty’s memory to the organization of your choice: Central Congressional Church, 71 Park St.; Rabbit Run Community Arts Association, 49 Park St.; Madison Garden Club, Box 483; all of Madison, OH 44057.
