Megan Danielle Whelpley, age 39, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2020 at her home in Douglasville, Georgia, with her loving parents, and daughters, India (3) and Bella (2) Whelpley, at her side. Her girls were her dearest treasures.

Megan was born August 31, 1980 in Cleveland, Ohio to parents, Rory (Dylan) and Victoria Whelpley, grandparents, Frank and Margaret Recher, and Dick “Casey” and Jack Whelpley. She was raised in Geneva, Ohio.

Megan attended Assumption School and graduated Geneva High School class of 1998. She earned a Bachelors Degree in Education and a Masters Degree in Counseling from Kent State University. Megan had almost accomplished her goal of “Dr. Megan” with a degree in Clinical Psychology from California Southern University.

Megan loved her family and was especially close to her “cuzzies” Michael and Andrew King and John, Maggie, and Jeffrey Kohli. They have many fond memories of going down to Grandma and Grandpa at the Farm’s home every Sunday and many days in between. The cousins put on plays, dressed in costumes with props and songs, played in the creek and played many games together. Many holiday get-togethers were spent remembering those happy times.

When she was a young teenager, Megan mowed the grass for Grammy on the Farm. She loved that John Deer! She’d mow and sing her heart out, not realizing we could all hear her. Megan was especially close to Grammy, and loved her dearly.
While in High School,she began working several summers at Eddie’d Grill. She loved it, and always said that along with her parents, the Sezon family taught her good work ethics. (Thanks Anne and Eddie!)

After college, Megan worked as a teacher in the Language Arts Dept. at Geneva High School and Alexander High School in Georgia and then later worked at Westwood College in Atlanta, Georgia as an Admissions Counselor.

Megan is survived by her parents; daughters, India Victoria and Isabella Apollonia Whelpley; many aunts, uncles and cousins including the Laffeys, Kings, Rechers, Whelpleys, and the Kohli families. Megan loved them all!
She will also be missed by her beloved puggies, Pugsley and Piggy, who gave her much comfort and friendship.
Megan was preceded in death by grandparents, Frank and Margaret Recher, Richard “Casey” and Jack Whelpley, Maynard and Mabel Barrett; aunt , Betty Recher; and uncles, John Recher and Brian Laffey.

Megan loved the psychic world and truly believed in the Heavens and all it could offer spiritually. So, when you look up at the moon and stars, remember Megan, and know that she is the brightest star of all!

Due to the current pandemic, there will be no Services at this time. The family will have a Celebration of Life that will be announced at a later date.
