Richard James Swearingen, Jr. age 74 of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 peacefully in his home. Born in Steubenville, Ohio on January 12, 1947 he was the son of the late Richard J. Swearingen, Sr. and Rita Mae (Kaufman) Swearingen. He married Robin Hissam in Concord on October 1, 2000.

Dick proudly served our country as a Marine Staff Sargent. He embodied the Marine Corps honor by displaying his flag and living his life by the moto “Semper Fidelis” (Always be Faithful). He never missed an opportunity to pay tribute to his country. Dick was admirable and of high intelligence. He was accredited with degrees in engineering and the arts with vast knowledge and experiences. He always had an eye for beauty and was the epidemy of a gentleman and a scholar. He was a fun-loving guy who was always happy to spend time with his family and closest friends. He enjoyed traveling to different places in his wrangler (the top off, of course) with his wife throughout the years. Many trips to his hometown for special occasions and later visiting his mom and stepfather in Florida. Fishing was one of his most cherished hobbies and he loved telling his life stories and experiences to his family and friends. You could always catch him with a tough cross word puzzle that only he could complete. Dick never hesitated to help the people he loved and enjoyed watching the happiness he created around him. The memories that were created will forever be treasured in the hearts of many as he continues to shine his light bright in Heaven.

He is survived by his loving wife, Robin; brothers, Bill (Linda) and Ken (Dee) Swearingen. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Sharon Ann. He has always been the most loving, kindhearted, generous uncle to two generations of nieces and nephews and adored spending time with each of them. Dick humbly blessed the lives and hearts of many. May our Angel wrap us in love and continue to guide us from high above.

There will be no funeral at Dick’s request, however a gathering of Friends & Family will take place at Joey’s Italian Grille, Sunday March 21st 1-4p located at 2731 Hubbard Rd. Madison Ohio 44057. Please join us in the Patio Bar to celebrate our love of 24 years. Have a cocktail on him or as Bunny would say Eat, Drink and be Merry!
