Samuel Lynn Echerd, Age 79, resident of Harpersfield since 1942, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011 University Hospitals of Cleveland.

Born October 15, 1931 in Cleveland to Ellen M. (Murphy) & Glenn Echerd and he married Barbara Ann Ott

Formerly employed at Union Carbide until managing Echerd?s Sunoco. He was known as ?Whistling Sam the Sunoco man? for 28 years.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Sam was an active member of the Harpersfield Volunteer Fire Department and was one of the cooks at the Harpersfield Beef Roast from the beginning 37 years ago.

He is survived by daughters Cathleen (Dave) Russell

Connie (Steve) Brubaker

Grandchildren Joshua Edgell, Tia March, Kira deBlecourt, Aleia Riegler,

Elora Russell & Morgan Brubaker

3 Great-Grandchildren

He was preceded in death by wife, Barbara Ann Echerd and his parents

Friends will be received 5-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011 at The Behm Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, Ohio.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Friday, July 22, 2011 at the funeral home.

Final Resting Place will be at Alexander Harper Cemetery in Unionville.
