Thomas C. Schwarz, Age 81, of Crystal Lake, Illinois and formerly of Painesville, passed away Monday, September 26, 2011 in Crystal Lake, IL.

Born April 15, 1930 in Cleveland to Ida (Nicklaus) & Thomas Schwarz, he married Joan Marie Schwarz in Cleveland on October 8, 1960.

Tom was General Manager of Transportation for Harley Davidson Transportation Company

He was a graduate of Cleveland State University. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post 112. He was a founding member of Ttransportation Logistics Institute, Cleveland, Ohio. Founding Sponsor, National Museum, U.S. Army. Lectured in continuing education for logistics and transportation at Cleveland State University and Kent State University. Former employee of New York Central Railroad, ESB Inc., Diamond Shamrock, Con Agra, Hooker Chemical Co. He loved to play family golf and most of all he enjoyed watching his sons play sports.

He is survived by sons, Thomas M. (Lora) Schwarz of Wonder Lake, IL & Todd E. Schwarz of New York, NY; Grandson, Thomas James Schwarz of Wonder Lake, IL.

He was preceded in death by his Wife, Joan; Parents; Sister, Ruth Gahr

Friends will be received 1-4:00 PM, Sunday, October 2, 2011, at The Behm Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, 26 River Street, Madison, Ohio.

Funeral Service will follow at 4:00 PM with Rev. William Alvey officiating.

Final Resting Place will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Painesville.
