Thomas (Tom) Mathew Jameson, aged 71, passed away peacefully at his home in Madison on May 19, 2020 from complications following a heart attack. He passed away in the presence of his wife, children, and beloved nephew, Lee-Arng Chang. Tom was born December 6, 1948 in Lorain, Ohio to Wayne and Josephine (Pliszka) Jameson and grew up in Avon, Ohio.
Thomas served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He received his undergraduate degree at General Motors Institute of Technology (now Kettering University) before attending Syracuse University for his Master’s in Mechanical Engineering. He also received Master degrees in Chemical Engineering from American University and Nuclear Engineering from Georgia Tech University. Tom met his wife, Anchi, while at Syracuse University. They married on June 10, 1972.
He started his career at Duke Power in Charlotte, North Carolina before moving back to Ohio in 1982. During his career, he worked at Perry Nuclear Power Plant, RMI, and Babcock & Wilcox. For many years, he also taught various math and engineering courses at Lakeland Community College.
He enjoyed supporting local youth sports programs, and volunteered as a baseball umpire and basketball referee in his younger years. Tom enjoyed following local sports, woodworking, DIY projects, and spending time with his family and friends. He is especially remembered for how readily he gave his love, time and effort to support those he cared for.
Tom leaves behind his wife Anchi of 47 years; children, Nina Hickey (husband Brendan, sons William, Seth and Rory), Matthew Jameson (wife Rebekah, children Patrick, Oliver, and Raegan), and Jessica Patel (husband Manish).
His brothers, James, Gary and Lance survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Josephine Jameson.
A celebration of his life and all he gave to his family and friends will be scheduled at a later time.

Tom, you will be greatly missed, we only got to now you for just under a year as we embraced Jessica into our Patel Family, both Nalini and I will always treasure the memories we have of our time we spent together in in Ohio. Both you and Anchi rallied around to makes us so welcome to your home, our family meal we had in Cleveland at your favourite Chinese restaurant, our trips to the vineyards, golf coaching you arranged for us, the British flag outside your house welcoming us, and above all knowing you. We equally shared great memories when you visited us in the UK. Besides our daughters being friends I was able to interact with him as a coach whenhe umpired or refereed my baseball and basketball games. And I believe we had an opportunity to ref several times together in the game of basketball. He was always consistent with his strike zone and his calls on the basketball floor. You couldn’t ask for any more from an official. I hope he enjoyed officiating games as much as we enjoyed having him officiate for us.

To all my Jameson cousins , I am so sad and sorry for the sudden loss of Tom. I have so many great memories of all of our times together growing up. Tom was such a great man. I remember him visiting my Dad often on Friday nights. They had a close bond. Even though I was so young, I have memories and my Mom has often told me of all the help Tom was to my Dad when he was ill. And how you were all there for us when my Dad passed so young. It meant so much to all of us that you were all there for Joe’s funeral too. A sad occasion but honestly it was a happy day to see all of you and the rest of the family there. You’ve all been so kind to stay in touch with my Mom and it means the world to all of us. Times like this make me miss all of my Ohio family so much. And all the celebrations of weddings, graduations and holidays. You all hold a special place in my heart. Heaven is now blessed with a beautiful angel, Tom.
