Wayne S. Howell, Sr., 68, of Austinburg, died peacefully at his home Saturday, October 27, 2018. He was born June 18, 1950 in Queens, NY to Rev. Roy and Barbara Howell. Wayne moved to Pittsburgh where he developed his love of the Pittsburgh Pirates. He graduated from Fairmont High School in Fairmont, West Virginia. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from West Virginia University. He also earned Masters’ Degrees from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in clinical psychology; Youngstown State University in English, and the University of Akron in theater. He enjoyed playing bridge, acting, writing, and was passionate about baseball. He was a dedicated worker for the Democratic Party. Wayne was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Geneva, Ohio where he served on the vestry and was a lector. He
was supportive of environmental issues and enjoyed nature and the outdoors. Wayne was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth A. Hanusosky Howell; his son, Wayne S. Howell, Jr. (Brandi), and his granddaughter, Alexis Howell, both of Ashtabula; brothers, Paul and Chuck Howell, of Redding, CA, Ronald (Lynoda) Howell of Lexington, KY,; sisters Rebecca Howell (Kevin Murray) of Pahoa, HI and Nancy (Greg) Woltz of Shippensburg, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 4 – 7p.m. at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 So. Broadway Geneva. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2018 at Christ Episcopal Church, 66 S. Eagle St. Geneva, OH 44041.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Christ Episcopal Church or Ashtabula County Animal Protective League, 5970 Green Rd, Ashtabula, OH 44004.
