Trevor Behm President

Trevor Behm, President of the Behm Family Funeral Home is a fourth-generation funeral director and involved in all aspects of daily operations. A 1995 graduate of Geneva High School he went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Baldwin Wallace College in Berea and studied at the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. Members of Immaculate Conception Church, Trevor and his wife Julie play an active role in our community and feel it is a privilege to serve others with a compassionate heart.

Julie Behm Vice President

Julie Behm, Vice President of the Behm Family Funeral Home works each day with students at Madison High School as a Guidance Counselor. A 1996 graduate of Geneva High School she went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University and her Masters Degree from John Carroll University. Julie plays a supporting role in all aspects of the business and helps to coordinate the Candlelight Service of Remembrance each year for the families in our community.

John Merk Licensed Funeral Director, Certified Pre-Planning Consultant & Celebrant

John graduated from Willoughby South High School in 1988 and continued his education at John Carroll University where he majored in English and British Literature with a minor in Art History.  He graduated from John Carroll in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. 

A musician and song writer, he began studying piano when he was 4 years old.  This study led to a love of all music, and provided a foundation to grow into voice training and performance.  He also plays the French Horn, Guitar, and Organ.  John is a liturgical musician and organist at St. Cyprian Parish in Perry since 2007.   

John married his love, Yih-ting, whom he met through his parish priest.  Yih-ting has a Masters in Applied Social Science from Case Western Reserve, and before coming to America, she had been a special education teacher and would often volunteer her time at home and abroad.  She has devoted her life to helping others.  John and Yih-ting are thankful for 2 beautiful children and dear family both near and far. 

The Merk family is happy and blessed to be with Behm’s, and looks forward to serving the community for years to come.

Richard P. Dakters Licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer

Richard Dakters is a Funeral Director and Embalmer with 30 years of experience. He is originally from Elyria, Ohio and graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and an associate degree from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1988. He and his wife Tracie have been married for 29 years and have three daughters. Richard is an accomplished musician and lends his talents to the worship team at Crossroads Community Church in Madison.

Danelle Miller Hospitality Manager

Danelle Miller, has served as the Hospitality Manager for Behm Family Funeral Home since 2011.  She graduated from Mentor High School in 1970 and ESI CareerCenterin 1995.  Sheresides in Madison with her husband Rick.  They have two children and 6 grandchildren. With a great passion for people, Danelle feels that community out-reach plays a significant role in life and feels it is an honor to serve families at the funeral home.  They are members of Central Congregational Church in Madison for over 40 years, serving in many capacities and active with the Madison Food Center.

Pamela Ahlman Administrative Assistant / Insurance Specialist

Pam joined Behm’s in January 2013. She is honored by the opportunity to assist our families and is gratified to be part of such a loving, dedicated team. Pamela moved from Erie, PA where she attended   Gannon and Mercyhurst Universities, as well as, NRTI. Pamela lives in Austinburg with her husband Richard, on his family homestead. She volunteered in PA as a domestic violence counselor/advocate and is currently the Treasurer of the Ashtabula Area Club of Zonta International. They enjoy 5 children, 9 grandchildren and attend Geneva United Methodist Church.

Mark Shearer Certified Crematory Operator

Mark Shearer is a certified crematory operator and has been employed at The Behm Family. Funeral Home since the fall of 2010. Besides the crematory, Mark often assists with other daily operations within the funeral home. Mark and his wife Kay are partners with Here’s Hope Baptist Church in North Madison, where Mark also serves as pastor. Mark and Kay enjoy being a part of and serving, not only the local community, but individuals and families whenever possible.

Julie Hunt, Accounting/Bookkeeping for the Behm Family Funeral Home. Julie graduated from Geneva High School in 1991. She is married to Brad Hunt. They have two children and are lifelong active residents in the Geneva community. The Hunt family are members of Assumption Church in Geneva.

Kristen Marineau Receptionist at the Madison Behm Funeral Home was born and raised in Harpersfield, and was a Graduate of Geneva High School and Lakeland Community College.  Kristen and Her husband Patrick reside in Madison and attend Chapel United Methodist Church.  We love supporting our local community and look forward to continued service to this region we call home.

Kimberly Wade Geneva Receptionist

Community Care Coordinator, believes that life should be lived fully and shared with others. It is simply too short for anything else. She keeps an office at the Behm Family Funeral Home in Geneva, and she loves it there. She grew up in the area and spent her whole life living in Trumbull Township, Harpersfield, Geneva and Madison. The people make it magical. They fill her day with the best stories of lives well-lived, passionate, and well-shared. Kim seeks adventure with Geneva Business Women Inc., the Madison Village Merchants, the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, local theatre playhouses and production companies, and AWFUL: Ashtabula Writers of Fantastic and Uncanny Literature.

Paula and Steve Doland Funeral Assistants

Paula and Steve Doland have lived in Madison most of their lives.  They were married in 1973 and have 2 grown children, Melissa and Brett and 5 wonderful grandchildren.  They are members of St. Anne’s Anglican Church, serving in many capacities. They also volunteer at the Madison Food Bank. They regard their work at Behm Family Funeral Home, not a job, but a ministry.

Donald Bartlett Funeral Attendant

Moved from Clarksburg W.VA in the 2nd grade. A 1965 Graduate of Perry High School Don attended Miami University (Ohio) and is a proud Army Vietnam Veteran (1968-1971). He married his lovely wife Judy Raines Bartlett (a 1968 Perry graduate) in 1970 and received his 2-year AA degree from Lakeland College in 1970. He worked for 38 years at the Lubrizol Corporation, Wickliffe Mechanical Engineering Test Lab as a Senior Technical Facilitator retiring in 2009.

Don also served 11 years on the Madison Village Planning Commission, 8 years as a Madison Village Councilman and Fireboard Trustee and was actively involved with many other community service organizations. Alongtime member of the Perry Christian Church, currently the Treasurer, he serves as one of the E&I Panel Chairs for Lake County United Way, andis still active in other community organizations. He has served on the Behm Team since 2010 and is so appreciative to be able to serve and help others.

Marge Burnett Funeral Assistant

Marge Burnett, Funeral Assistant,  born in Cleveland and moved to Leroy Twp. when she was 9 years old.  Currently reside in Perry Twp. with her dog, Peggy Sue, a beagle.  Wife of Stewart Burnett (deceased).  Obtained her AAB degree from Lakeland Community College and further education with David N. Myers College.  She is a member of St. Cyprian Church and a member of the Bereavement Committee and other ministries.  Member of RSVP of Lake County and an ambassador recruiting new members (both men and woman).  Volunteer for many one-day assignments with RSVP, including Senior Day at the Mall, Red Cross Bloodmobile, Salvation Army and Music and Memory Therapy for Alzheimer's patients in Lake County.  Volunteer with the Lake County Sheriff's Office; Holden Arboretum; Lake County Free Clinic; Lake County Drug Repository; and the Lake County Emergency Agency in Kirtland on a regular basis.

Heidi Williams Administrative Assistant

Heidi Williams, Administrative Assistant, grew up in the Harpersfield-Geneva area.  She is a 1991 graduate of Geneva High School.  Heidi and her husband, Jeremy, have raised their 7 children in Geneva where they are active in their community.  They are members of the Peoples Church of Geneva, where she serves on the Worship Team and helps lead Children’s Ministries.  Heidi and her husband volunteer with the Geneva Youth Wrestling Club and many other sports and groups involving the kids. She loves Geneva and the surrounding communities, and truly feels blessed to be able to help care for families that we serve at Behms.

Kathy Klco, Funeral Assistant, originally from Pennsylvania and graduated from Madison High School in 1967. Kathy worked as an aide in Special Needs Classrooms and also worked at the Lake County YMCA for 25 years. She Immensely enjoys being part of the Madison community and the Behm Team.

Marilyn M. Merk, Funeral Assistant, Born in Painesville, Ohio and life-long resident of Lake County. A 1963 graduate of Wickliffe High School, she was a business owner of a hair salon for 45 years in Wickliffe. Currently she resides in Perry and is a memberof St.Cyprian Church where she teaches 7th. grade P.S.R. class. Delighted to be on the Behm Team with the opportunity to help provide assistance, comfort and consolation to our families.

Scott Miller Maintenance Supervisor

Scott Miller, Maintenance Supervisor, grew up in Madison and now lives in Geneva. He graduated from Madison High School in 2002 then attended Lakeland Community College and Toledo University. Scott started at Behm Family Funeral Home in 2017. He keeps everything at Behms running smoothly and looking good.

Susan Ahlman Schneider Funeral Assistant

Susan Ahlman Schneider is a greeter for the Behm Family Funeral Home. A 1971 graduate of Geneva High School she then went to Kent State for 2 years taking courses in office administration. She then worked as a sales assistant at Merrill Lynch and then a broker at Paine Webber and in 1990 changed careers and worked in Customer Service for Delta Airlines where she retired after 22 years of service. She also is a deaconess at First United Church of Christ Austinburg. Susan lives in Kentucky but visits her father Eldon G. Ahlman in Austinburg where she grew up and assists in his care, he is now 95. She hopes someday to live back here permanently.

Jerry Chasko Funeral Assistant

Jerry Chasko, Funeral Assistant, retired after working for over 32 years at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant. He is a US Navy submarine veteran. Jerry spends much of his time volunteering at various organizations including Holy Cat Whiskers Cat Rescue here in Madison, the Madison Area Food Bank, and with Hospice of the Western Reserve. Jerry and his wife Lois are members of St. Anne's Anglican Church, where Jerry is also the church Treasurer.

 Steve Strull works in maintenance. He, his wife and two daughters live in North Kingsville. The Strulls are members of the Bible Baptist Church in Saybrook and they enjoy serving their community through the various outreaches of their local church.

Ron Donatone, Funeral Assistant, was born and grew up in Ashtabula, Ohio. He graduated from Edgewood Sr. High School in 1969, the University of Akron in 1973, and Youngstown State Univ. in 1978. He is a retired educator. Ron and his wife, Laurie, live in Concord Township and are proud parents of three children and six grandchildren. They belong to St. Gabriel Parish in Concord.

Sam Britton joined our staff in 2018 as a Funeral Assistant.  He resides with his wife Sue in Madison Village and is currently the Mayor of Madison Village.  He enjoys working with the public and loves his role as Funeral Assistant at Behms.
