Betty Appell age 85, of Madison, Ohio, passed away on November 7, 2018 at Hillcrest Hospital. She was born on December 30, 1932 to the late Cyrus and Helen (Merrifield) Berkheimer and was married to the late Louis E. Appell for 40 years. She was a Bank teller for many years and earned a “We Care: Award from Bank One. She also served as the accountant for The Salvation Army in Ashtabula for many years.
Betty was a very caring and giving person. She could always be found helping others, playing ball with the neighbor kids and volunteering in multiple church activities. She liked Politics. She was a huge sports fan and attended many Cleveland Indian’s games with emotional fervor.
She is survived by her children Reva (Mitch) Weekley, Ken (Adrienne) Appell, Erik (Shannon) Appell, Winifred Appell; grandchildren Molly and Maxwell; brother, Roy (Betty) Berkheimer; and sister, Dixie (Gary) Welker.
She is preceded in death by her husband Louis Appell; parents; brothers Jack Berkheimer, Cyrus Berkheimer, Jr; and sisters; Pat Coyle and Jane Jones.
Friends will be received from 9:30 am to 11 am Saturday, November 10, 2018 at St John’s Lutheran Church, 811 S Broadway, Geneva, OH 44041. A service will follow at 11 am officiated by Pastor Jonathan Schroeder at the church. Final Resting place will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Fremont Ohio. Contributions can be made in Betty’s name to Our Shepherd Lutheran School, 508 Mentor Ave, Painesville, OH 44077.
