Carl R. Shaffer, age 75 of Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 14, 2018 at home with his wife by his side. He was born July 21,1943 in Cairo, WV, the son of Mildred A. (Snyder) & Richard W. Shaffer. He married Lorean G. Randel September 10, 1982, in Cairo, West Virginia.

Carl retired in 2002 in construction from Laborers Local Union #480 after 35 years. He was a member of Geneva Eagles #2243, as well as a member of the Fremont Moose Lodge #1286. He and his wife owned and operated The Lollipop Shoppe and Diamond Lil’s Photos at Geneva-on-the-Lake, where he was well known for sitting in front of the shop and greeting customers.

He enjoyed retirement, spending time with his beloved pets, Shadow and Furby, occasionally having a nice ice cold beer while watching TV, and helping keep stock of inventory at the shop.

He is survived by his wife, Lorean Shaffer; step-children, Dean A. Wadsworth, Georgia A. Throckmorton, Raymond A. Bailey, Sarah E. Bailey; brother, Harry E. Shaffer; sisters, Doris E. Wilson, Wanda A. Shaffer; 8 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and extended family, Danessa and Christina, whom he gained along the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Donald R. Shaffer and infant James W. Shaffer.

Private family services will be observed. The Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 South Broadway, Geneva, OH 44041 is assisting the family during this time.
