Madeline, the picture of Nani in her “Worlds Best Nani “sweatshirt which we made for her, reminds me of all the visits to California that she made to visit us. She loved you three children and was there when you were born. She would cook for us, play with you kids, and loved being with you during those visits. It’s been a year since her death and I still miss and think of her every day.

My Nani, Dorothy Mavko, was a very special gal. She always made me laugh, even when the times were tough. I like to believe I adopted her sense of humor-always witty and a little sarcastic. She had style and grace, even during her later years. I feel lucky to have spent quality time with her during her last months, around her birthday. She made me appreciate life and reminded me to always strive towards living! Rest in peace Nani, you will be loved.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I really like this prayer! Reminds me of all the letters Nani and I would write to each other. She was a reliable and fun pen pal who wrote pages of letters, numbered on the bottom corner to not lose track. My friend reminded me recently of how I also numbered my long winded letters to her. I guess it runs in the family. :) Love you nani. We miss you.

I am sharing a favorite Prayer I found from Mom's desk: "MY FRIEND is one who speaks to me... And takes the time to write... Who has a thought to spare for me...Whatever day or night... Who comforts me and want to make My worry his concern... Who does a favor but expects... No favor in return... The one who knows the faults I have...But doesn't criticize... And who is always at my side...To help and sympathize...He is the brother of my soul...Forever good and kind...And he is first and foremost in...My grateful heart and mind...My friend is one who keeps me in ... His every memory... And now and then will turn to God... And say a prayer for me."
