E. Ray Petrea, of Euclid, Ohio, passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 20, 2016. He was born in Kannapolis, NC on Sept. 6, 1933 to George W. and Bernice (nee Ward) Petrea. Ray was 83 and liked to say he’d never been that age before.
He was a counseling psychologist, serving disabled veterans for 37 years, at the Cleveland Veterans Administration. During the Korean War Ray proudly served in the Army’s security force in Germany. Euclid City Council recognized Ray for organizing the Euclid Community Diabetes Support Group. He enjoyed searching for golf balls with his nieces and nephews. His bucket list included visiting all 88 county Ohio centennial barns.
Ray is survived by his wife of 29 years, Marcine Elizabeth Behm Petrea; sons, Chester and Jonathan; sister, Lois Webb. He is preceded in death by his parents; twin sister Fay; sister Margaret; and twin siblings George and Jeanette.
Visitation will be 10-11am Wednesday Nov 23, 2016 at Central Congregational Church, 71 Park St. Madison, Ohio, 44057. Funeral service will follow at 11am, officiated by his niece Rev. Karen GeigerBehm. Final resting place will be in Perry Cemetery.
Contributions may be made in Ray’s name to Euclid YMCA 631 Babbitt Road, Euclid, Ohio 44123.
