James Jim P. Smith, age 74 of Madison, passed away on August 29, 2018. He was born November 7, 1943 in Loch Lynn, Maryland the son of Janet Melanie (Campbell) and Stanley Adrian Smith. He married Betty Ann Thomas on June 6, 1998 at their residence in Madison.
Jim was a Mentor High School Graduate. He retired from Lubrizol as a pipefitter and welder. He was a long time member of Park United Methodist Church in Madison. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and walking his dog. Most of all, Jim enjoyed getting together with family and friends.
Jim is survived by his wife, Betty Smith; son, Patrick (Donna) Smith; daughter, Kimberly Ford; step-sons, John (Jerri) Shultz, Jeffrey (Melanie) Shultz; step-daughter, Christine Shultz; grandchildren, Meghan, Justin, Kaitlyn, Abigail, Megan, Valerie, Cortney, Raymond, Dominic and Alisha; several great-grandchildren; and brother, Richard (Melva) Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street, Madison, OH 44057. A Memorial Service will be held at 4 p.m. with Pastor Donna Maruschak from Park UMC officiating.
