John W. Messenger Jr, age 72, of Perry passed away Tuesday, August 31 at Tri Point Medical Center. He was born September 12, 1948 in Rochester, PA the son of John William Messenger Sr. and Dorothy Jane (Turney) Messenger. John was raised in New Brighton, PA, graduated from Point Park College in Pittsburgh with his degree in Engineering Technology. He married Arlene Stuber on April 17, 1982 and they would make their home in Perry, OH for the last 32 years.
John worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Townsend and Bottom Co and the Gilbert Commonwealth Inc. and he retired from First Energy Corporation Perry Nuclear Power Plant as a Senior Quality Specialist.
John enjoyed classic car cruises to show off his 1964 Red Ford Falcon Sprint convertible. He loved seafood. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also loved the spirit of baseball and was a big supporter of both the Pittsburgh Pirates and Cleveland Indians.
He is survived by his wife Arlene; son, Derek J. Messenger; and mother, Dorothy. He was preceded in death by his father.
Friends will be received 10am-12pm, Friday, September 3, 2021 at the Behm Family funeral Home, 26 River St., in Madison. A Funeral Service will follow at 12pm with Rev. Liz Krall officiating.
