Richard Clutter, age 91, died February 15, 2016. He is survived by his brother Edward Clutter (Carol), sister Ellen Haigh, sisters-in-law Jacky Clutter, Mary Lou Cheney and Dorothy Clutter. Preceding him in death include his wife Alice of 63 years and siblings James Clutter, Dale Clutter, Leora Gruber, Russell Clutter, and Sharon Pasqualone.

Richard was born in Geneva, Ohio to Ester and Leslie Clutter. He played piano, harmonica, euphonium, and trombone and was an active member of the American Legion Band for 55 years as well as several other bands. Richard was an avid swing dancer and never passed an opportunity to jitterbug or polka. Richard became a US Navy Mine Diver during WWII and was stationed in the Pacific on the Admiralty Islands for 2 years. His ship was the USS Robert H McCard. He loved photography so he borrowed a camera and made a dark room on the island. In 1943 he created an amazing album of Navy life on the island, which included his fellow soldiers as well as the natives. After WWII Richard married Alice and they moved to Independence, Missouri where Richard became an expert mechanic for Chrysler.

Alice worked in the accounting department at Sears then for the Lamar Hunt family in the loge and as the nanny for their grandchildren. Alice loved bowling, dancing, bike riding, swimming, and roller skating, and daily walks. Dick and Alice provided many fun summer memories for the Grubers and Clutters with music, picnics, bowling, and swimming. We will miss the laughs and music, and Alice chiding “Richaaard!”

Graveside service will be on Saturday, February 20th, 2016 at 12:00 noon, at Harpersfield Cemetery, Route 307, Geneva, Ohio.
