Stanley Lastition Sr., 90 of Ashtabula passed away Saturday June 12, 2010 at the Geneva Village Retirement Community.
Born March 20, 1920 in Austinburg the son of the late William and Anna (Duchniak) Lastition.
Stanley, an alumni of Austinburg High School was active in the Merchant Marines during WWII sailing the Great Lakes under the U.S. Navy. After his tour of duty he started a trucking business that grew to a fleet of twelve trucks used in the construction of interstate highways in Ohio and Pennsylvania. After retiring from trucking, Stanley opened a tire business at his residence in Ashtabula and for many years he served the area selling tires, wheels, and parts. During this time he was known as ?Stan the Tire Man.? He continued his tire business until illness forced him into retirement.
Stanley is survived by his Daughter: Shirley (Sim) Tomlinson of Queensbury, NY; His Son Stanley Jr. ?Sonny? Lastition of West Palm Beach, Florida; Grandson Donald (Shelly) Patterson; Grand Daughter-in-Law Leah Patterson of Stow, Great Grandchildren Kristen, Douglas, Bayley, and Amber Patterson, Brothers Walter (Linda) Lastition of Leesburg, FL, Joe (Kathy) Lastition of La Habra, CA; Sister: Mary Ann Woodworth of Madison and Many Nieces and Nephews.
Stanley was preceded in death by his Wife and Polka dance partner of 56 years Adeline; Infant Son Stanley Howard; Brother Emil Lastition; Grandson Jeff Patterson and Niece Kimberly Cunningham.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Church, 2846 Hubbard Road in Madison.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00pm on Wednesday, June 16th at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison.
Burial will take place at North Madison Cemetery.
