William John Hocevar, Sr., age 70 of Geneva, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014. Born September 4, 1943 in Cleveland, he was the son of Stephanie Ann (Kotar) & Frank L. Hocevar. He married Patricia DeCola on July 27, 1963 in Mentor.
William was a retired Assistant Director of United Steel Workers of America and served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. He was a member of Assumption Church in Geneva. William golfed 5 days a week and enjoyed walking. He also liked to play the button box accordion and had a green thumb for gardening. He was a faithful fighter and advocate for labor unions. But most of all, he dearly loved his wife, children and grandchildren & extended family.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Hocevar; children, Tina Hocevar, Dawn (Eric) Waldmann, William (Stephanie) Hocevar, Chris (Sue) Hocevar; grandchildren, Lauren Hocevar, Aaron Waldmann, Mark Hocevar, Daniel Waldmann, Christopher Hocevar, Jonathan Waldmann; brothers, Dave (Donna) Hocevar, James (Betty) Hocevar; sisters, Carol (Pat) Palmieri, Jackie Hocevar. He was preceded in death by his son, Frank L. Hocevar; brother, Frank J. Hocevar, and his parents.
Friends will be received 5-8 PM, Friday, September 5. 2014 at THE BEHM FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 175 South Broadway, Geneva, OH 44041. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Assumption Catholic Church, 594 West Main Street, Geneva, OH 44041. Final resting place will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Geneva.
